Snuggie

The Snuggie, everybody’s favorite As Seen On TV blanket with sleeves, is back and is increasing it’s momentum tremondously after it’s debut in the fall of 2008. The ultra soft and comfortable warming blanket made out of machine washable fleece is bound to rapidly take over the public eye and draw a significant amount of attention to itself in the coming years, starting out this epic crusade by advertising itself – one infomercial at a time.

The Snuggie is still the standard when it comes to cheap sources of warmth for the winter as any activity can now be performed cold free thanks to the Snuggie; whether you are watching TV, on the computer or just flat out cold, the Snuggie delivers and is perfect for the group of people sharing a living space that fight over the thermostat. The Snuggie has, quite interestingly enough, evolved beyond it’s marketed appearance as a warming blanket that is traditionally sold as something to keep you warm while you watch TV, lay around the house or are looking for some extra warmth to save money on those heating bills during those colder days of the year. A wide array of Snuggie parody and Snuggie spoofs have made their ways to the surface via such channels as YouTube and the media and are a testament to its increasing popularity and wacky new ways in which people have found uses for their Snuggie. These new uses for the Snuggie are the very thing that drive and inspire its creators to come up with new and fashionable Snuggie patterns and designs, as well as colors, each and every year – we will take a look at these in a moment.

Recently, the amount of Snuggie sightings has increased due to Snuggie fashion week, an event staged by the wearable blanket at the Park Avenue Hotel in New York City, in an attempt to unveil the body blanket with sleeves newest colors and line of apparel for both kids and dogs (more on these later). Events such as these has helped propel Snuggie into an everyday fashion accessory where it was traditionally used strictly in the home – this shift into Snuggie fashion has caught a lot of attention lately, perhaps because it has served to break the taboo of wearing a fleece blanket, or any kind of blanket for that matter, out into public. Without a doubt, the Snuggie has been launched into our mainstream media, culture and onto our bodies.

Still, events such as Snuggie pub and bar crawls, combined with all out Snuggie parties have been sweeping the nation as these fun-filled events contain a particularly large amount of people wearing a large amount of colorful over sized blankets with sleeves out into the public; something like this would either make your head turn or make you very, very sleepy – I’ll leave you to decide.

The blanket wrap with sleeves is available in three basic Snuggie colors: burgundy, royal blue and sage green. You can check out here for a more complete Snuggie Review.

As of 2009, you can now purchase a Snuggie For Dogs to keep your best friend warm, dry and safe. Each Snuggie for dogs blanket comes in either blue or pink and is offered in various sizes ranging from extra small to large, unlike the regular blanket with sleeves that is only offered as a one size fits all deal. As if this wasn’t a perfect way to keep a warm dog, each blanket, which is buy one get one free, comes with a dog tag that is able to hold a recording of whatever you would like to leave on it – perfect for any feisty fidos that like to roam around; I personally left my contact phone number and address on my tags since I have a daschund that likes to leave home a bit too frequently. All things aside, this makes for the perfect gift for dogs and is better than giving the standard gift of dog toys or dog bones. For $15.00 you get the first set which consists of a Snuggie for Dogs blanket and a recordable collar tag plus an additional second set free (just pay shipping) including another dog blanket and collar tag for free.

Also as of 2009, Snuggie For Kids is now available and has got to be the natural response to children wanting a blanket of sleeves for themselves but finding out all to quickly that they can’t fit comfortably into their parents, friends or older sibling’s one size fits all warming blanket. Never fear, as now you’re main questions of, “Where can I buy the blanket with sleeves for my child” and “where can I buy a Snuggie For Kids” are finally answered! The Snuggie for kids comes in royal blue and pretty pink and is already available for purchase for $20.00 and each order comes with an additional free blanket and two orders of matching slipper socks. This leads us to the Snugglette.

The Snugglette is also being advertised and is essentially the same exact thing as the Snuggie for Kids – so in the event you see a Snugglette being advertised, you know it is exactly the same product for kids.

Now we have another new treat, as of 2009 Snuggie has developed a new fashion line for it’s products (remember the New York fashion show?) that all go under similar names: Designer Snuggie, Snuggie Designer Model, Snuggie Wild Side, Zebra Snuggie, Leopard Snuggie and Camel Snuggie. Each of these wild sounding names all fall under the Designer Snuggie fashion collection, and as their names declare, come in Zebra, Leopard and Camel patterns for the more trendy among us. Just like the original Snuggie offer, these are buy one set (one blanket + free book light) get another set free so long as you pay shipping. Purchasing a Designer Snuggie will cost about $20.00, which includes the second set free. If you ever wanted to buy a Snuggie, the Designer Snuggie collection may be a great place to start if you want to be a little bit different!
